Jürg Lietha wurde 1952 in Schaffhausen (Schweiz) geboren. Als Achtjähriger
erhielt er den ersten Klavierunterricht. Nebst seiner klassischen Musikausbildung
spielte er während der Schulzeit auch in diversen Pop- und Jazzgruppen.
Nach der Matura absolvierte er seine Musikstudien am Konservatorium und an der
Musikhochschule Zürich (Klavier bei Prof. H. Schicker; Orgel bei Prof.
H.Gutmann, einem Schüler von Karl Straube sowie bei Prof. E.Vollenwyder,
einem Schüler von Marcel Dupré).
Jürg Lietha was born in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
Already at age five, he was attending music school to learn flute and later
piano. Alongside his formal classical education, his interests intermingled
with jazz and pop music. Majoring in organ, piano and choir directing, he graduated
from the Zurich Conservatory of Music. As a student, he received repeated recognition,
winning - among other awards - first prize in Migros Scholarship Competition
: as award affording him several years of continued studies abroad.
After receiving a Diploma of virtuosity in both instruments, he studied piano
under professor Vitaly Margulis (Freiburg, Germany) and further broadened his
perspectives with courses in organ interpretation under Gaston Litaize (Paris),
Guy Bovet (Romainmôtier), - as well as in improvisation under Martin Baker
(London). Today, his maintains multivarious concert appearances as organist
and pianist, engages as composer and Prep/Seminar School music teacher, and
serves as Church Musician for the Dreifaltigkeitskirche (Holy Trinity Church)
in Bern.
